Introduction	This visa allows the spouse or de facto partner of an Australian citizen or permanent resident to live temporarily in Australia.

With this visa, you can	Live in Australia while the Department processes your visa application. Work and study in Australia. Travel in and out of Australia as many times as you like while your visa is valid. Access Australia's public healthcare system (Medicare). Enrol in free English language classes provided by the Adult Migrant English Program (if eligible).
To be eligible for this visa, you must:	Prove your relationship with your spouse or de facto partner, who must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident. Be sponsored by your spouse or de facto partner. Be in Australia when you apply for this visa. Any family members applying with you must also be in Australia. Be in or outside Australia when the Department makes a decision on your application.
